Position:         Head of Department (Biomedical Engineering)

Job Summary:  This is essentially an academic position with the ideal candidate expected to head the Biomedical Engineering department. S/he should preferably be a Biomedical Engineer with vast experience in Academic and Biomedical Engineering projects. S/he will take a lead role and show demonstrated ability to work under minimum supervision by teaching, assessing and mentoring students in the repair, calibrating, and carrying out preventive maintenance on a wide range of medical equipment. S/he will also involve him/herself in curriculum development and re-evaluation, in keeping with national and international trends. The person MUST be highly motivated and possess innovation abilities in the field of Biomedical Engineering.

S/he may from time to time be requested to participate in the Inspection, installation, and perform inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.

Reporting to: The Academic Registrar.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Spearhead training of Biomedical Engineers and technicians.
  2. Manage the academic and administrative aspects of Bio-medical department faculty.
  3. Develop and Oversee implementation of preventive, predictive, corrective and routine repair and maintenance schedules.
  4. Manage and allocate workloads to Biomedical Engineering staff and faculty
  5. Design biomedical equipment and devices, such as artificial internal organs, replacements for body parts, and machines for diagnosing medical problems
  6. Install, adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment
  7. Oversee testing, troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions for medical equipment
  8. Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment
  9. Train clinicians and other personnel on the proper use and maintenance of biomedical equipment
  10. Prepare procedures, write technical reports, publish research papers, and make recommendations based on their research findings
  11. Spearhead research and innovation in the Biomedical engineering department in aspects of the biological systems of humans in collaboration with scientists, chemists, and medical scientists
  12. Present research findings to scientists, nonscientist executives, clinicians, hospital management, engineers, other colleagues, and the public
  13. Maintain supplies and biomedical inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

The applicant must hold:

  1. A degree or higher qualification in Biomedical Engineering from a recognized University.
  2. Masters in Biomedical Engineering will be an added advantage.
  3. Must possess relevant experience in the field of specialization.
  4. Demonstrated work experience in the medical field.
  5. Demonstrated people skills and ability to work in a diverse society.
  6. Demonstrated interest in research, innovation and publication.
  7. S(he) should be a go-getter who exhibits territorial management aptitude.

Position: Lecturer- Electrical and Electronics engineering

Reporting to: Academic Registrar

Job summary

The Lecturer- Electrical and Electronics engineering will undertake teaching, assessment and mentorship of students within the institution’s Biomedical Engineering Department.

The selected person will also be expected to engage in research and where required, participate in Institute projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Design, plan and implement effective and inclusive teaching and support learning activities.
  2. Teach across a range of modules/units or within a subject area using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods and technologies.
  3. Assess the work and progress of students and provide them with constructive feedback.
  4. Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analyzing feedback.
  5. Develop ideas for improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods.
  6. Engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilizes the outcomes of research and scholarship, to enhance practice.
  7. Participate in collaborative research projects as appropriate to the discipline and supervise research students as required.
  8. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications and experience:

  1. The applicant must be a holder of a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.
  2. Must be knowledgeable in Electronic Systems, Electronics Troubleshooting, and Electronic Testing Design etc.
  3. Should demonstrate depth and breadth of understanding of subject matters at a complex conceptual level.
  4. Should possess teaching skills, with preferably a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, from a recognized Institution.
  5. Possess substantial experience in relevant research field, with an emerging track record in research in relevant subject commensurate with stage of career.

Position:         Lecturer- Computer Science and Software Engineering

Reports to:  The Academic Registrar

Job Summary:  

The Lecturer- Computer Science and Software Engineering will undertake teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level; supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research students and carry out any administrative duties commensurate with the role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Design, plan and implement effective and inclusive teaching and supporting learning activities.
  2. Teach across a range of modules/units or within a subject area using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods and technologies.
  3. Assess the work and progress of students and provide them with constructive feedback.

Position:         Lecturer- General Pathology

Reporting to: The Academic Registrar

Job Summary:  

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and motivated academic team at ECUREI. We are seeking a part time medical doctor with a passion for teaching, to help coordinate and deliver the pathology component for some course units both at graduate and undergraduate programs.

Skills, Qualifications and experience:

Applicants should have knowledge and expertise in clinical and general/anatomical pathology and ideally possess a post graduate training in general or anatomical pathology. They should also possess teaching skills, with preferably a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education, from a recognized Institution.
